How I approach it
Every build starts with the content and the templates it needs, not a theme pulled off a marketplace. I map the pages, the post types, and the fields first, then build a theme from scratch around that structure. Custom post types and custom fields go in where the content repeats, so the business edits real fields instead of fighting a page builder.
Performance is a build decision, not a plugin added at the end. Clean markup, scoped assets, and only the code a page actually needs. What comes out of that is a site the business can run without me, because there is no proprietary platform sitting underneath it.
